If you have a Christmas party planned for the kids, or just need a fun snack some Sunday, here’s your ticket. This stuff is so good you’ll be tempted to make another batch just for yourself. My one tip is, don’t be a dummy like me. I didn’t remove the old maids, thinking they’d sink to the bottom. They ended up getting caught up in the candy coating, so we had to be very careful picking them out as we ate. You don’t want any broken teeth, I’m sure. I found the recipe at plainchicken.com.
2 bags microwave popcorn
6 oz. box candy canes
24 oz. pkg. almond bark
1 tsp. peppermint extract
Pop microwave popcorn according to package directions. Open bags; sort out old maids and discard them. Dump popcorn in very large bowl. Crush candy canes in food processor. Dump over popcorn in bowl. Melt almond bark according to package directions. Stir in extract. Pour melted bark over popcorn and carefully toss to coat. This may get messy. Spread on waxed paper to set. Once set, break into pieces.
