The Very First Christmas by Paul L. Maier

The Very First Christmas is a retelling of the Christmas story through the conversation of a mother and son.  Christopher is a young boy full of questions who wants to hear a true story.  His mom decides to share the story of Jesus’ birth with him.  They read passages of the Bible together, Christopher asks questions, and they discuss it.  This book is a bit long, so it would be best for at-home reading or if you can sit down with a couple of kids for several minutes.  The illustrations are bright and realistic, and add a lot to the story.  It is a Lutheran book, but the only terminology I found that some Christians may not use, is when it refers to “St. Luke.”  That’s an easy change if your denomination doesn’t speak that way.
