The kids and I got the idea for this project from Le DADA de l’Enfant Terrible.  I love how they turned out and I look forward to doing this project again.  It’s a really fun art project to do when you just need to kill some time with your class.

Materials:

• white paper
• magazines
• glue or glue sticks
• scissors
• markers

Directions:

1. Tell the kids that you’re going to make silly pictures of people today.  Now would be a good time to hold up a sample that you made ahead of time.

2. Show the kids how to look through the magazines for pictures of people’s faces and either cut or tear out the individual features (eye, nose, ear, eyebrow, hair, mouth).

3. Once each child has found the features that they want, they can experiment with positioning them on the paper.

4. Glue features to paper and use markers to complete the face.
