The Berenstain Bears: God Bless Our Home by Jan & Mike Berenstain

The Berenstain Bears: God Bless Our Home is about how the Bear family finds a way to expand the living space in their beloved tree to accommodate their growing family.  Papa bear digs out a basement and builds a garage, and they fix up the attic so that Honey can have her own room.

The “God Bless Our Home” part of the story is incorporated because of a cross stitch sampler which Mama hung up when they first moved into their tree.  That’s really the extent of the spiritual side of the story.  The main lessons are that we should enjoy the blessings of our home, make the best use of it that we can, and be content with what we have.

It’s a cute story, but it doesn’t really contain any notable spiritual lessons, so I wouldn’t recommend it as an addition to your children’s ministry.  It would make a decent read-aloud for families, though.
