This is the intro or object lesson I had planned for our lesson about Jesus and Peter walking on water.  I really enjoy doing a quick initial activity to grab the kids’ attention and get them thinking about our topic.

Fill a dish pan or bucket with water.  Ask your assistant or a child to take off their shoe and try stepping or walking on the water.  Let them try a few times before giving up.  Ask them if they can walk on it.  Of course the answer is no.  Tell the children you’re going to learn about somebody today who DID walk on water.
