Happy Birthday Jesus

Last Sunday we had a little celebration of Jesus’ birth in Sunday School.  The kids colored these birthday cake coloring sheets which you can find at Sunday School Center in their Christmas lessons for ages 4-7.  We also had some little cupcakes and sang Happy Birthday to Jesus.

Christmas Gifts for Jesus

One week last Christmas we had a birthday party for Jesus during Sunday School.  We advertised ahead of time that we were collecting non-perishable goods to give to the local food pantry.  If kids wanted, they could bring in the food and it would be like a gift to give Jesus, but it would benefit […]

Balloons – Christmas Wreath

This is a picture of the first balloon Christmas wreath I ever made.  It’s very basic.  Make a whole bunch of these for Christmas decorations!  Instructions on Youtube.  She makes hers slightly different from mine, but it’s very cute.  To make it full-size, use two or three 260 balloons.  With two balloons you would spiral […]

Joy To The World! by Dina Anastasio

This post contains an affiliate link. This unassuming little book is one of the best I’ve found for telling the Christmas story in a style very much like you would find when reading directly from the Bible.  In Joy to the World! you get the entire story of Jesus’ birth, from the angel appearing, to […]

The Legend of the Candy Cane by Lori Walburg

This post contains an affiliate link. If you ever feel the need to get some nice Christmas books for kids, check out the thrift store during the Christmas season.  Apparently kids’ Christmas books are a common item to get rid of.  The Legend of the Candy Cane was one of the books I found at […]

The Donkey’s Christmas Song by Nancy Tafuri

This post contains an affiliate link. What Is Christmas? by Michelle Medlock Adams

This post contains an affiliate link. What Is Christmas? is a deceptive little board book.  You would think that a small book, designed to stand up to teething toddlers, wouldn’t have anything great in it, right?  Guess what?  You’d be wrong.  (Have no fear it is available as a regular hardcover, as well.) While it […]

Wrapped Present Door Decoration

Here’s another door we decorated at home this year.  It was very, very easy.  Knowing how hard my kids can be on doors, I chose to put it on one that is rarely opened. Supplies: Christmas wrapping paper, wide ribbon, large bow, tape, scissors 1. Measure height of door.  Cut piece of wrapping paper to […]

Peppermint Popcorn Bark

If you have a Christmas party planned for the kids, or just need a fun snack some Sunday, here’s your ticket.  This stuff is so good you’ll be tempted to make another batch just for yourself.  My one tip is, don’t be a dummy like me.  I didn’t remove the old maids, thinking they’d sink […]

Snowman Door Decoration

My kids and I decorated this door at home, not church.  If you wanted to spruce up a door in your children’s area, this would be a great idea!  It took us less than 20 minutes to put together. Supplies: black construction paper, orange construction paper, red scrapbook paper, green scrapbook paper, scissors, white crayon, […]

Jesus Is Our Light Christmas Craft

Here’s a craft from the Christmas season that I had tucked away and forgotten to post.  This sample was made by one of the older kids, since they were making something different themselves. Supplies: black construction paper, crayons/markers, chalk, glue, scissors, Christmas bulb template (from learncreatelove.com) 1. Color Christmas bulbs. 2. Cut out bulbs.  For […]

Donut Snowman Snack

Here’s a very simple Christmas or winter snack.  I saw it on Pinterest, I believe.  That’s how my sentences often begin nowadays…”Hey, I saw something on Pinterest…” Mini powdered sugar donut, candy corn nose, and black cake decorating gel–that’s it!

Chocolate Pretzels

For the month of December our snacks will be Christmas-themed, instead of made to match each lesson.  It’s just easier that way.  Last Sunday we had these Chocolate Pretzels.  They’re very easy to make and very yummy!  Here’s how to do it: Ingredients: small pretzels (round, regular or square), Hershey Kisses / Rolos / Hugs, […]

A Child Is Born by Billy Tucci

This post contains an affiliate link. If I had the money, I’d get a copy of this book for all the families at our church for Christmas.  It’s that good.  A Child Is Born is a comic book retelling of the Christmas story.  The illustrations are detailed, nicely colored, and realistic.  Some of the images […]

Room For A Little One by Martin Waddell

This post contains an affiliate link. I really want to use Room for a Little One with my little kids at church this year.  It’s such a lovely, innocent take on the Christmas story, and I really think they’ll enjoy it.  It also has some repetition, which they enjoy because they feel like they know […]

The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey by Susan Wojciechowski

Build Your Own Christmas Stable by Juliet David

A friend of mine recently donated this nativity scene to our children’s ministry.  It was perfect timing because the night before, I had been talking with someone about getting one to display during Advent. The best place I found to purchase it is from half.com, here.  The Christmas story is told with pictures and text […]
